Coral Replaces William Hill for New UK Snooker Championship Sponsor
Out with William Hill and in with Coral, I think so! Coral has indeed took on the new title of the UK Championship Snooker Tournament sponsor for 2014. It starts November 25th and will run until December 7th at the York Barbican where competition will be broadcasted to more than 77 countries while 128 players battle it out for the £150,000 top prize.
This particular tournament’s history dates back to 1977, and has been sponsored by Coral in 1978 and 1985. William Hill was part of the last three events, but Coral is on board now for one of the Triple Crown Events. This UK Championship event is one of the more highlighted events of the sporting calendar with millions of fans around the world waiting with anticipation all year.
Coral hasn’t been a part of the championship event for three decades now, and is excited to be a part after being absent for so long. Coral’s PR Director Simon Clare stated, “It says everything about the longevity of both the UK Championship and Coral that this sponsorship is actually a reunion after an absence spanning three decades. A lot has changed in the world of snooker and the betting industry over the last 30 years, but the UK Championship and Coral are still as pre-eminent as they were in 1978.”
